Description

Pineau des Charentes is made by blending unfermented grape juice with cognac to result in a product with about 17 to 18% alcohol by volume that is the pefect aperitif.

Ch’?teau Montifaud has belonged to the Vallet family for six generations now, the vineyard being created in 1837 by Augustin and has seen the succession of Pierre, Maurice, Louis and Michel. Laurent came to join his father and grandfather in October 2000.

According to the family tradition, when a son joins his father, a part of the cognac distilled in that year is set preciously aside and will only be sold by the future generations.

The red Pineau is made from two grapes skillfully blended together. Merlot provides the richness and body that typify good Pineau whilst the Cabernet Franc adds aromatic power. The red Pineau spends 14 months in oak casks.
