Description

Haro, Rioja Alavesa

Deep Ruby and cherry red, with the lightest hint of a terracotta edge. Good intensity on the nose, with ripe autumn fruits, warm spices and elegant toasty oak. The palate is rich, warming and velvet, with good acidity and noble tannins.

Tempranillo 90%, Garnacha 5%, Graciano 5%

In 1940 the first Vina Real wines were launched. These wines were produced from grapes grown around Elciego, in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa province. These vineyards, to this day are still controlled by Vina Real and continue to border the 'Camino Real' or 'Royal Drive'; hence the origin of the Vina Real name.

The Vina Real wines are modern in structure, balance and elegance, with a potential for very long ageing in bottle, this last being the main characteristic of the Rioja Alavesa province.

The Vina Real range is composed of Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva reds with this last style only produced from very good years and a Vina Real Barrel Fermented white.

In 1879, two brothers set up a business in the recently flourishing trade of the wine business. C.V.N.E., Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana (The Northern Spanish Wine Company) or la Cune, as it is commonly known in Haro, was created.

The Cune winery in Haro, is made up of a group of buildings, mostly from the 19th century and arranged around a courtyard surrounded by pavilions for the purpose of wine production, aging, and bottling and it was one of the first wineries of Rioja to bottle its own wines. In 1900, the winery had an extraordinary aging capacity of 80,000 bottles, which was most unusual at the time, as most wineries were selling their wines as soon as possible.
