Description

The Domaine Alain Michelot Nuits-Saint-Georges Vieilles Vignes displays all the richness garnered from 45 year old vines. Powerful, aromatic and with wonderful texture this wine offers complex flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant and smoke leading on to a long, elegant and flavoursome finish.

Located in the heart of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Alain Michelot tends 8 hectares of vineyards covering 15 appellations, including Grand Cru Clos Vougeot, Morey St Denis and 9 of the finest vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The origin of the property dates back to around 1880 and four generations of winemakers have contributed to the development of this renown estate. More recently Alain Michelot, though still in charge, has handed the winemaking reins to his daughter Elodie, and the wines produced here have gained in finesse and purity as a result. The ageing of the different appellations is done for approximately 18 months in oak barrels (with 25% new oak) and whilst the Michelot's support en-primeur campaigns they also hold back stock and only release the wines with a degree of maturity to show off the delights of great, aged Pinot Noir.
