Description

Grand Cru St Emilion, Bordeaux

With a mix of blackcurrant and vanilla aromas lifted by a fresh note of aniseed, this opulent wine is well-balanced with layers of rich black fruit flavours and a long mineral finish that is silky smooth.

Beard La Chapelle produces 100,000 bottles per year with a yield of 45hl/ha. Franck Moureau is the wine maker and runs the property with the help of two full-time workers (and their wives who work part-time in the vineyards). They have worked for the property for over 17 years. In addition, seasonal workers are employed for jobs such as the green harvest and for deleafing prior to harvest-time. Franck's sister, Laurence Moureau is in charge of communication and the development of international sales.

The Chateau has been in the same family for 9 generations. In 1980, Franck's father, Richard, decided to integrate his parents' parcels to expand the domain. Franck took over as winemaker in 2006, along with his sister Laurence in charge of sales development. They have worked very hard to make the Chateau a success, investing in new equipment but also in conducting traditional winemaking techniques and improving the care given to the vines. Today Chateau Beard La Chapelle is an incredible value for money Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, a rising star within the appellation and definitely a Chateau to follow in the coming years.
